Koala Inspector alternative: SellWinners vs Koala Inspector

Koala Inspector is a free Chrome extension that reads one Shopify store at a time, plus leaderboards and Premium tracking of up to 50 stores. As a Koala Inspector alternative, SellWinners searches and filters across stores, with an API and an MCP server, but no extension.

SellWinners is our product, so weigh what follows with that in mind. Every fact about Koala Inspector comes from its own pages, read on October 26, 2026: its product page, its pricing page, its Shopify Sales Tracker page, its leaderboards, its theme detector, its app detector, its revenue calculator and its llms.txt file (koala-apps.io/llms.txt). We did not test a Premium account.

The two tools start from opposite ends. Koala Inspector looks inside the store open in your browser tab: its best sellers, apps, theme, estimated sales and traffic. SellWinners starts from a search across the Shopify stores we track, so you can find the stores worth a closer look before you open one, and it adds the ads behind them and an API. Which one fits depends on whether you already know the stores you want to study.

Koala Inspector vs SellWinners, fact by fact

"Not stated" means we did not find the fact on Koala Inspector's pages. It does not mean Koala Inspector lacks it. We do not copy its prices, because they change: its pricing page shows them, and we read it on October 26, 2026.

Where Koala Inspector fits

Pick Koala Inspector if you research while you browse. The extension is free, and it reads whatever store you open, while SellWinners keeps to the Shopify stores we track. On its Free plan, app detection, theme detection, product browsing and best sellers use no tokens, so checking a store you come across costs nothing. Without the extension, its theme detector and app detector take a store's address on its site with no account, and its revenue calculator multiplies monthly traffic, a conversion rate and an average product price, with no sign-up.

It also does things SellWinners does not. It splits a store's visitors by channel, finds suppliers, has an AI chat about a shop, and exports to CSV or Excel. Its shop tracking, on Premium, logs what a store changes, such as apps, theme, products and prices, with notifications you turn on store by store. Its leaderboards rank the biggest Shopify stores in 21 categories, with the top apps and themes across Shopify, on public pages.

Where SellWinners fits

SellWinners fits when you do not know yet which stores to study, or when you need the same figures for many stores at once.

  • You want a list, not one tab. Search the stores we track by name, domain, product or words on the storefront, then filter them by traffic, growth, estimated sales, ads, apps and theme.
  • You want history without setting up tracking. A store's record carries its traffic and its estimated sales over time, so you see the trend on the day you find the store.
  • You want the ads too. One account covers the Meta, Google and TikTok ad libraries, and a store's record leads to the Facebook pages that advertise it.
  • You want the data in your own tools. The REST API has public docs, and the MCP server gives AI agents such as Claude, Cursor and VS Code the same searches as tools.

What SellWinners does differently

Search and filter across stores

The shop search takes 52 filters by name. Among them are monthly visits, 30-day traffic growth, estimated monthly sales, units sold, active ads, product count, best-seller price, Shopify Plus, Trustpilot rating, and the apps, pixels and theme a store runs. With no search at all, the list returns the shops that are trending. In Explore, a first search takes four steps:

  1. Open Explore and go to Shops. Type a niche or a product in the search box.
  2. Open Filters and set a floor on monthly visits or estimated sales, or pick an app or a theme.
  3. Sort the list by 30-day growth or by estimated sales.
  4. Open a store for its overview: traffic, estimated sales, best sellers, apps, theme and ads.

On Free you search a store by domain and see its overview; the shop filters are on paid plans. The Shopify spy tool page lists every filter.

Sales and traffic history without tracking a store

Koala Inspector's tracking re-checks a store after you add it and logs what changed, at 15 tokens per store a month. In SellWinners, a store's record already carries its history: its monthly visits over time, and its estimated sales with units sold, by day, week or month, up to 365 days back through the API. The figures are estimates for the whole store, made for comparing stores. The FAQ on estimates says how far to trust them, and our guide on how much a Shopify store makes covers the ways to estimate it.

The competitors of a store

Start from one store, yours or a rival's, and the similar Shopify stores list returns the stores closest to it. Each comes with a similarity score, its monthly visits, its 30-day growth, its active ads and its product count. We did not find a similar-stores feature on Koala Inspector's pages.

Following a brand over time

The two tools track different things. Koala Inspector's shop tracking follows a store's catalog and setup: its apps, theme, products, prices and variants. The Brand Tracker in SellWinners follows a brand's ads: its top ads, the ads gaining rank, its hooks, headlines, ad texts and landing pages, with a daily record of its ad texts and headlines from the day you add it. It holds up to 200 brands per account, and the pricing page shows which plans include it. If catalog changes are what you watch, Koala Inspector covers them and SellWinners does not.

Check one store by its address

Koala Inspector's theme detector and app detector do this on its site with no account: paste a store's address and they name its theme and its apps. In SellWinners, the store check sits on the Lookup page and the home page of Explore, so it needs an account. Give it any store's address, tracked or not, and it says whether the store runs on Shopify, which theme it uses and which Shopify apps it loads, each app with a link to find it on the Shopify App Store. The pricing page shows which plans include the store check.

# Shopify apps a store uses, by its address
curl "https://api.sellwinners.com/v1/tools/shopify-apps?url=allbirds.com" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

GET /v1/tools/shopify-apps Parameters and fields in the docs

The same data in your code and your AI agent

Every search above is also a REST endpoint, and filters go by name as query parameters or in a POST body. The shop search reference lists each parameter and field. 1 credit = 1 result returned: one brand's details, one ad, or one row of a list. An empty result is free. A failed call costs nothing.

# Search or browse shops (trending when empty)
curl "https://api.sellwinners.com/v1/shops?search=candles&minMonthlyVisits=20000&sortBy=growth30d&limit=10" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

GET /v1/shops Parameters and fields in the docs

Over the MCP server for AI agents, ask your agent to run search_shops for stores, find_similar_shops for the competitors of a store, brief_competitor for a short brief on one rival, or detect_shopify_store for the theme and apps behind any address. A tool call costs the results it returns, from the same credits as the API. The Free plan includes the MCP server too: 150 credits a month, 10 requests a minute, the first 10 results of each search.

What SellWinners does not cover

SellWinners has no browser extension, for Chrome or any other browser. It has no supplier finder, no built-in AI chat about a shop (your own AI agent can ask about one over the MCP server), and no CSV or Excel export. It does not split a store's traffic by channel, it publishes no public leaderboards, and it sends no alert when a store changes its apps, theme, products or prices. Store records cover the Shopify stores we track: the store check reads any address, but only for its platform, theme and apps. Sales and units sold are estimates for the whole store.

How to choose a Koala Inspector alternative

Settle these five points for your own work before you compare tools.

  1. One store or a list. If you study stores you already found while browsing, an extension such as Koala Inspector is quicker. If you need to find the stores first, look for search and filters across stores.
  2. History or a snapshot. Check whether a tool shows a store's sales and traffic over time, or only today's figures until you start tracking it.
  3. What you track. Koala Inspector tracks changes to a store's catalog and setup. The SellWinners Brand Tracker tracks a brand's ads. Pick the one that matches what you watch.
  4. How use is counted. Tokens per action, as in Koala Inspector, or credits per result returned, as in the SellWinners API. Work out what a normal week of research uses in each.
  5. Where the data goes. The browser only, a CSV file, or your own scripts and AI agent.

Everything SellWinners does with stores is on the Shopify spy tool and Shopify store analytics pages, and you can compare the plans when you are ready.

Koala Inspector, Brandsearch, PPSPY, ShopHunter and Winning Hunter are trademarks of their owners. SellWinners is not affiliated with any of them, or with Shopify, Meta, Google or TikTok.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Koala Inspector free?

Partly. Its pricing page lists a Free plan that is free forever, with 15 tokens a month, and its product page says no credit card is required. App detection, theme detection, product browsing and best sellers use no tokens. Traffic analysis takes 3 tokens and ad campaigns 2, and shop tracking is on Premium (both pages checked on October 26, 2026). SellWinners has a Free plan with no card: each shop's Meta ad library and a shop search, in the web app. The Free plan includes the web app and the MCP server (150 credits a month), without the API.

Does Koala Inspector have an API?

We found no API and no MCP server on Koala Inspector's product page, its pricing page or its llms.txt file on October 26, 2026, and that does not prove it has none. Its product page says you can export a store's data to CSV or Excel. SellWinners documents its REST API in full on its documentation page, and the same key opens an MCP server with 73 tools for AI agents. The Free plan includes the web app and the MCP server (150 credits a month), without the API.

Does SellWinners have a browser extension?

No. SellWinners has no extension for Chrome or any other browser. You use Explore in the browser, the REST API, or the MCP server from an AI agent such as Claude, Cursor or VS Code. To check one store by its address, the store check in Explore says whether it runs on Shopify, which theme it uses and which Shopify apps it loads. If you want an extension that inspects any Shopify store you open, Koala Inspector offers one with a free plan, says its product page, checked on October 26, 2026.

Does Koala Inspector show a store's Facebook or TikTok ads?

Its pages do not say which ad platforms it covers. Its product page says it shows the ad campaigns a store is running, "including creatives and platforms", without naming those platforms, and its pricing page puts ad campaigns at 2 tokens (both checked on October 26, 2026). In SellWinners, a store's record lists the Meta ads of the Facebook pages linked to it and the posts of its TikTok profile, and the ad libraries cover Meta, Google and TikTok ads.

Start free, then upgrade when you need more

No card is needed. The Free plan includes the web app and the MCP server (150 credits a month), without the API. The API and the other datasets need a paid plan. Paid plans start at €39 a month.
