Competitor email analysis means reading a competitor's email program as a whole: what it sends, how often, on which days, and which offers it leans on. In SellWinners you name one shop by its domain and get exactly that: every email the library holds for it, its rhythm over the last 90 days, a calendar of any month you pick, and the mix of its campaigns.

One email tells you about one campaign. A program tells you about a strategy: whether a brand writes twice a week or every day, whether it sells with discounts or with launches, and how it builds up to a big date.

What a shop's email program shows

One shop's email program
PartWhat you see
Its emailsEvery email the library holds for the shop, of the four campaign types (Marketing, Newsletter, Welcome and Abandoned Cart), newest first, each readable in full with its HTML
Last 90 daysHow many of its emails fall in those days, its average per week, and how those emails spread over the days of the week
A month, day by dayA calendar of the month you pick with the emails of each day, and that month's own days of the week
Campaign mixThe share of each campaign type in its last 90 days, its categories, and the promotion types and events its emails use

Every figure counts the emails of all four campaign types, so a store's welcome and abandoned cart emails are part of its rhythm too. A month with more than 500 emails shows its latest 500, and the calendar says so.

Run a competitor email analysis in Explore, step by step

  1. Open Explore, go to Shops and search the competitor by its name or its domain. Open its page.
  2. Press View emails, or open the Emails tab. The shop's emails are listed newest first, page by page.
  3. Read Email stats beside the list: the emails of the last 90 days, the average per week and a bar for each day of the week.
  4. Pick a month in the Month field. The calendar shows how many emails went out on each day of it.
  5. Open the emails of the busiest days to read their subjects, their offers and their layout. An email's page adds the shop's Email program: its campaign types, its days of the week and its categories over 90 days.
  6. Save the emails worth keeping to a board, or press Track to follow the brand's ads too.

How to read a sending rhythm

The numbers mean most next to each other. Read them in this order:

  • Frequency. The average per week is the first thing to compare. Put five competitors of your size side by side and you have a fair range for your own program.
  • Days of the week. Many brands keep to the same few days every week. When your competitors all favour one day, the others may be worth a test.
  • Peaks. A calendar around a big date shows the build-up: teasers first, the launch day, then reminders and a last call. Count the emails and read them in order.
  • Mix. A program made mostly of Promotional Campaigns sells with offers. One with many Launch and Product Campaigns sells with news. Newsletters and welcome emails show how much it invests in the relationship. The email marketing library lists every category, promotion type and event these labels take.

Four questions competitor email analysis answers

How often should we email?

Open the Emails tab of three to five competitors your size and note each one's emails per week. To rank a whole niche at once, search the email marketing library for a niche word and sort by Emails per week.

How did a competitor run Black Friday?

Pick last November in the Month field and read the calendar: when the first email went out, how many followed, and how close together. Then open the emails of those days for the offers and the subject lines.

Does a competitor sell with discounts?

In the email library, type the shop in the Shop filter and note the number of emails. Add a promotion type, such as Discount % or Free Delivery, and compare the two counts to see how much it relies on offers.

What happens after someone signs up?

In the email library, keep the shop in the Shop filter and switch the campaign type to Welcome to read what a new subscriber receives, or to Abandoned Cart for what a shopper gets after leaving a cart. Our post on the email flows Shopify brands rely on explains each flow.

Shop email analysis from the API and your AI agent

A shop's domain works in place of its id. The first call lists its emails of every campaign type, newest first:

# Emails sent by a shop
curl "https://api.sellwinners.com/v1/shops/gymshark.com/emails?limit=25" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

GET /v1/shops/{shop_id}/emails Parameters and fields in the docs

The second gives its sending stats for a month you name:

# Email sending stats of a shop
curl "https://api.sellwinners.com/v1/shops/gymshark.com/emails/stats?month=2025-11" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

GET /v1/shops/{shopId}/emails/stats Parameters and fields in the docs

The answer has two parts. last90Days holds totalEmails, avgEmailsPerWeek and emailsByDayOfWeek, keyed from 0 for Sunday to 6 for Saturday. calendar holds the month's emailsByDate, with partial set when the month was cut at 500 emails.

For an AI agent, analyze_shop_emails does the whole analysis in one call. Ask "How often does gymshark.com email, and what does it send?" and it returns the shop's last 90 days, this month's calendar, the top campaign types, categories, promotion types and events of its latest emails, their average length and their subjects. It uses the same key and credits as the API.

Every field is in the email stats reference.

Shop emails on Free and on paid plans

A shop's emails and their statistics are on paid plans. On Free, the demo brands are open in full on the website: open a demo brand's shop and its Emails tab lists its emails with their stats, so you can try the analysis on a real store before you choose a plan. Compare the plans when you want your own competitors' emails.

Analyze a competitor's emails

No card is needed. The Free plan includes the web app and the MCP server (150 credits a month), without the API. The API and the other datasets need a paid plan. Paid plans start at €39 a month.
