Shopify fees in 2026, plan by plan
A sale on Shopify can carry three fees: the monthly price of your plan, a card processing rate when the buyer pays by card through Shopify Payments, and a transaction fee when the sale goes through a third-party payment provider instead. The figures below are Shopify's US prices and rates as of October 2026. Prices and payment options differ by country, and Shopify Payments is available only in some countries, so check Shopify's pricing page for yours.
Shopify plan fees
Shopify's US plan prices per month, as of October 2026
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly |
| Basic | 25 USD | 19 USD |
| Grow | 65 USD | 49 USD |
| Advanced | 399 USD | 299 USD |
| Plus | From 2,300 USD | Not listed |
A new store gets 3 free days, then most plans cost 1 USD a month for the first 3 months before the price above applies. No plan has a setup fee.
Card processing rates with Shopify Payments
Shopify Payments card rates in the US, as of October 2026
| Plan | Online, standard card | In person |
| Basic | 2.9% + 30¢ | 2.6% + 10¢ |
| Grow | 2.7% + 30¢ | 2.5% + 10¢ |
| Advanced | 2.5% + 30¢ | 2.4% + 10¢ |
Premium and international cards cost more: on Basic, an online payment with a premium card is 3.5% + 30¢. The Shopify pages we read list no card rates for Plus. Card fees are not returned when you refund an order.
Shopify transaction fees per plan
Shopify charges a transaction fee only on the sales a third-party payment provider processes. It is a percent of the sale, and the provider's own card fee comes on top of it.
Third-party transaction fees in the US, as of October 2026
| Plan | Transaction fee |
| Basic | 2% |
| Grow | 1% |
| Advanced | 0.6% |
With Shopify Payments, orders paid through Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, Shop Pay Installments or a manual method such as cash on delivery or a bank transfer carry no transaction fee, and PayPal orders are exempt too. Two cases still pay it. On a store opened on or after May 12, 2025, the part of an order paid with store credit or a gift card does. And when you run a third-party provider next to Shopify Payments, the sales that provider takes do, while the sales Shopify Payments takes, such as Shop Pay, cost the standard rate plus a 1.25% premium.
Example: the fees on a 50 USD order on Basic
- Paid online with a standard card through Shopify Payments: 2.9% of 50 USD is 1.45 USD, plus 30¢, so the fees come to 1.75 USD and you keep 48.25 USD.
- The plan is a fixed cost on top. Basic billed monthly is 25 USD, which over 100 orders a month is 0.25 USD an order. That leaves 48.00 USD of the order before the product, the shipping and the ads.
- Paid through a third-party provider instead, the same order pays Shopify a 2% transaction fee, 1.00 USD, and the provider charges its own card fee on top, at its own rate.
For a whole month, enter your sales, your orders and your plan's price and card rate in the calculator above.
When your Shopify fees change
- When you change plan. A higher plan has lower card rates and a lower transaction fee, and Shopify updates your card rate when you change plan. Billed monthly, Grow costs 40 USD more than Basic and saves 0.2% of each online card sale, so it pays for itself above 20,000 USD of card sales a month. On a third-party provider the transaction fee drops from 2% to 1%, and Grow pays for itself from 4,000 USD of sales a month. Run the calculator once for each plan, with its price and its rate, to find that point for your store.
- When you change gateway. Moving all your sales to Shopify Payments removes the transaction fee. Adding a third-party provider next to it brings the fee back on that provider's sales, and adds the 1.25% premium on the Shopify Payments ones.
- When the card changes. A premium or international card costs more than the standard online rate, and a sale in person costs less.
- When you sell on marketplaces. Shopify's pricing page lists a fee of 1%, up to 99 USD a month, on every plan once you sync more than 50 marketplace orders in a month.
